Michael Prior, Associate Curator (Engagement)
Michael Prior joined Situations as Associate Curator (Engagement) in 2009. For Situations he is currently working to develop permanent artworks for both Brunswick Cemetery and the Oasis Academy as well as devising and leading on the engagement programme for Wonders of Weston, the Sea Change Public Art Programme. He is also a freelance arts project manager and has extensive experience curating and managing education and participatory arts projects, having worked at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham as Curator (1997-2000) and at Arnolfini as Access and Education Programmer (2000-2009). During this time he established a number of significant projects and initiatives aimed at involving people in the processes of making art and engaging critically with art and ideas. In 2009 he was programmer for the engage conference, Future Perfect, an examination of artists, art galleries and regeneration.
