Paul O’Neill, Research Fellow

Paul is a curator, artist, and writer. He joined Situations in 2007 as the Great Western Research Alliance (GWR) Research Fellow in Commissioning Contemporary Art and works on the Locating the Producers project, which examines public art commissioning in specific places over time through five exemplary European projects. His writing has been published in many books, catalogues, journals and magazines including Art Monthly, Space & Culture, Everything, Contemporary, The Internationaler and CIRCA. He is editor of the curatorial anthology Curating Subjects (Amsterdam & London: de Appel and Open Editions, 2007) and will be reviews editor for a new journal called Art & the Public Sphere, which will present a crucial examination of contemporary art’s link to the public realm, offering an engaged and responsive forum in which to debate the newly emerging series of developments within contemporary thinking, society and international art practice (forthcoming September 2010).

He was Visiting Lecturer in Visual Culture at Middlesex University from 2001-2008 and he has lectured on Curatorial Training Programmes including those at Goldsmiths College London; de Appel, Amsterdam and the Whitney ISP, New York.
