Locating the Producers, Interrogating the Curator

Two Focus Group Sessions, May 15 2008, de Appel, Amsterdam

Two focus group workshops were held at de Appel Amsterdam. Focusing on the curatorial practice of artist Jeanne van Heeswijk and curator Tom van Gestel, a group of interlocutors were invited to interrogate their commissioing methods, processes and approaches employed in their respective durational projects: The Blue House and Beyond.

Invited interrogators were commissioner Jonathan Banks (IXIA, UK); artist-curator Kerstin Bergendal (DK); artist Liesbeth Bik (NL); architect Dennis Kaspori (NL) and artist-educator Mick Wilson (Gradcam, IRE). Active respondents on the day were Ann Demeester( de Appel, NL); Sara Black (ProjectBase, UK); Renee Ridgway (NL) and graduates from the Curatorial Training Programme 2008. The sessions were moderated by Paul O'Neill.
